Ms. McKelvie leads the firm's bankruptcy and creditors' rights
departments. She has successfully represented creditors in
numerous trials, arbitrations and appeals involving commercial,
bankruptcy and consumer defense matters.
Ms. McKelvie's clients have included both secured and unsecured
creditors including Ford Motor Credit Company, Chrysler
Financial, Wells Fargo Bank, Nissan Acceptance Corporation and
TD Bank. Her experience includes managing the firm's bankruptcy
and creditors' rights departments, and appearing regulary in
U.S. Bankruptcy Courts, in both the Eastern and Western
Districts of Michigan, the Federal District Courts, the U.S.
Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, Michigan District and
Circuit Courts and the Michigan Court of Appeals. Ms. McKelvie
has handled all aspects of consumer and commercial Chapter
7,11,12 and 13 bankruptcy cases for the firm's clients. In
addition, she has defended many of her creditor clients in
consumer litigation involving claims such as violation of the
Michigan Collection Practices Act, violation of the Fair Credit
Reporting Act and wrongful repossession. She has also assisted
the firm's clients with collection and collateral recovery
matters.
Ms. McKelvie graduated from Madonna College in 1991, with high
honors, and from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law
in 1997. She joined the firm as an associate attorney in 1997
and became a Partner in 2005. Ms. McKelvie is admitted to
practice in all courts of the State of Michigan, U.S. District
Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, the
U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the U.S. Tax
Court. She is a member of the Bankruptcy Section of the Federal
Bar Association; the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Consumer
Bankruptcy Assocation and the National Association of Chapter 13
Trustees.
